I guess I won't spoil it, but really if you've read the comics, played the games, or just googled any of the character names of people in this movie you know who it is and yet they treat it like this big reveal.

The first movie had something of a villain reveal too, but they handled it in such a way that it really worked. Here, it just doesn't.

On top of that, his motives and overall goals are a little difficult to follow. Regardless, it's still a helluva fun ride.

His missions were some of the ones I enjoyed the most in the Spider-Man games, and it allows for some truly mind-bending trippy visuals later in the film.

That's where the film shines the highest, in its warped inception-ey trip-out sequences. Also, in it's character moments with the heroes.

It's a bomb! All this publication's reviews. Spider-Man exceeded my expectations in every single way.

It has its low points, but they are so minor, they become insignificant in the face of its many positive points.

Spider-Man is the PS4's second system seller in All this publication's reviews Read full review. The game not only fulfills what it promised, but it gives us an original story worthy of a Marvel movie.

A great adventure everyone can enjoy and fans of the superhero will love. Nonetheless a great superhero romp throughout. This game shows tremendous love for all things Spider-Man, and the ending packs a punch he would be proud of.

But Insomniac relies too much on its hero to elevate the world built around him, with the result that the game wears thin some time before its powerful conclusion.

A relatable protagonist, charismatic antagonists, a great traversal system, and an aesthetically pleasing New York City are among the many commendable features this game has to offer.

While many will say that there are repetitive side quests and open world activities, I personally see this as a negligible detail that really doesn't detract from the addictive NYC playground the game puts forth.

Amazing game. Loved the story very deep and engaging. A must buy if you own ps4. This game is one of the best games ever made in my eyes at least I have been a huge fan of Spiderman growing up and I have seen it all I've This game is one of the best games ever made in my eyes at least I have been a huge fan of Spiderman growing up and I have seen it all I've seen how Spiderman fell from grace with stories like one last day Sami raimi spiderman 3 and the amazing Spiderman films he was back with the mcu but it wasn't the Spiderman I grew up with it wasn't the kid who would face responsibility he wasn't the true embodiment of Peter Parker and then this comes along with superb game play an incredible story and this was for the first time in 12 years Spiderman not some husk of a character no this was Spiderman and this was incredible the game is a fun ride although the side content can get a bit repetitive this game never ceases to amaze me … Expand.

Once I learned the timing, it was easy to stitch moves together into a graceful choreography that let me preserve enough momentum to whip myself wherever I wanted.

Combat is also slick. Punching, dodging, and webbing enemies all fit together in a seamless dance that grows more complex as new gadgets get added.

As in web slinging, there are situational elements to the controls that lead to minor changes in outcomes depending on timing.

Holding square will knock an enemy into the air, while holding triangle will tug an enemy forward and stagger them.

Perfectly dodging an attack at the right moment, meanwhile, will lead you to automatically web the attacker and set up for a longer counter combo.

Fights sometimes feel like playing an instrument rather than robotically inputting controller commands. Webbing enemies to walls, dodging rockets, and building up a combo meter to unleash cinematic instant takedowns remains thrilling a hundred brawls in.

Going from Wall Street to Central Park feels like an epic undertaking, as it should, but one worth accepting due to the intoxicating specificity and civic grandeur of everything in-between.

Time Square at night fizzes with car lights and neon signs. The sunrise to the east of Manhattan spills light over the bay and spits across skyscrapers in a beautiful collision of nature and civilization that would make almost anyone want to move to the big city.

Glass-faced buildings reflect approximations of their surroundings and make the city look dynamic and shimmering.

Windows that Spider-Man crawls over can be peered through, revealing the color of the fridge in an apartment or how many chairs are at a modest dining room table.

Faux-Islander jerseys show up time and again, easily spottable amidst the sea of grimey earth tones.

Its Manhattan, though dazzling to behold in brief, web slinging glimpses, feels empty up close. Long stretches of the city are bereft of any opportunity for interaction—no museum doors to open, lunch trucks to buy falafel from, or shows to attend.

Spider-Man spends most of his time in the game cleaning up mobs of bad guys, saving motorists from burning cars, and accumulating a host of collectibles that attest to his progress in making New York the shining city on a hill every other comic book-inspired metropolis wishes it could be.

In the fiction of the game, Peter Parker ostensibly spends part of his days as a something trying to make a career in advanced robotics. We see little of that.

Tom Holland is still the best Spider-Man, and damnit all Zendaya is really winning me over. Those two are just really cute, and their developing relationship is charming as hell.

That relationship and seeing Spidey try to fill Tony's shoes spoilers is great stuff. It's another solid, if not perfect, Spider-Man film.

Michael M Super Reviewer. Oct 16, Marvel yet again introduce an interesting villain before leaving them standard, with a horrible exposition monologue I might add.

Spider-Man 2 is still the best film adaptation of the material and showcases what can be accomplished with an accomplished filmmaker.

The main concern is the lack of depth for the villain, a constant issue in Marvel's universe. I don't understand why they feel the need to keep the hero front and centre.

The hero tends to be either having some self doubt, love issue, injury or depression, which hampers there abilities.

I have never understand why the villain is side lined, bizarre. This could've been a great film and coming out from Avengers Endgame was a tough task.

The film is visually creative, but it's the same thing again. I hope they cover more of his backstory for number 3 and instead of making another empty shell villain, they give us a solid thought provoking one.

Brendan N Super Reviewer. Oct 01, Peter Parker's European school trip is interrupted when a superhero named Mysterio, who's from an alternate Earth, shows up and asked for his help to defeat an Elemental.

Unfortunately, as the first post-Endgame Marvel film, Far From Home has the extra burden of resetting the Marvel Universe; which comes off as kind of awkward in this story about a high school trip.

And while it does some good things with Parker dealing with the loss of his mentor Tony Stark , there's too much Iron Man in this Spider-Man movie.

Dann M Super Reviewer. Jul 17, Not as good as the first film but well acted by Tom Holland and company.

It is almost essential you have seen the last Avengers film to fully understand this film. THe villain is kinda ho hum but I enjoyed the film.

This game does almost everything right and is engaging from beginning to end. The opening moments of this game are memorable because of the graphical fidelity and the amazing feel of swinging around New York.

The combat starts off simple enough where you can learn the basics without feeling overwhelmed and only expands from there.

As you learn more moves the combat becomes more satisfying especially when you learn how to pull enemies up to you and throw them down at another enemy.

The gadgets are also very well done and can help turn the tide of a battle. Each gadget is unique and serves a purpose in a fight.

Another great aspect of the combat is you can't simply button mash. There are a varied number of enemy types and many will kill you if you simply mash the attack button.

Learning how to counter them so you can attack is important and also satisfying. One aspect of the game that isn't perfect is the open world collectables.

These very from collecting Peter Parkers backbacks that he lost in High School, chasing down Pigeons for a homeless man, taking pictures of landmarks which is actually fun , and more.

I actually enjoyed these collectables because I'm a trophy hunter but many people may feel like this is tedious work. Luckily the web swinging feels amazing and getting from one place to another is also exciting and never gets old.

There is a fast travel system will the subway but I very rarely used it because why would you? The world is beautiful and exploring it is even better.

When you aren't swinging around you can walk around New York and see how realistic the population is. From people reacting to you, to actual street laws.

The different suits are also amazing and offer unique abilities which you can attach to your favorite suit. Finally, the main story is well done and engaging but not revolutionary.

The way Insomniac created this original story that isn't based off any comic or film is worth mentioning. Seeing a character in a new light is always welcomed and I enjoyed that very much.

The acting and motion capture is top notch and help elevate the story and writing. Once the story gets going you won't want to put the controller down.

There are also a handful of side quests which are good but not necessary. There is one side quest that offers some unique gameplay but a majority of them are the same.

Overall, Marvel's Spider-Man is a great game and improves upon all other Insomniac games and takes the best part of those games. I can't wait for the sequel which will no doubt improve upon this game!

I'm realIy impressed. I got to be honest I thought this game was going to be another like most it's predecessor.

I didn't think insomniac had I'm realIy impressed. I didn't think insomniac had in them to create not only a fantastic Spider-Man game, but one that completely tops Spider-Man 2 for PS2.

The second I hit R2 to web swing I was automatically blown away. I haven't seen good web swinging like this in years.

Playing as Peter Parker feels so relatable, a guy with money and girl troubles but manages to loyal to the ones he loves.

The open world of Manhattan feels so immersive. Octopus, etc. Since I brought it up, let's talk about. The Combat seems Arkham inspired but it has it's own flow and it's actually very responsive and enjoyable.

There also upgrades that can be unlocked towards Spidey gadget and different moves that you pull off as you progress.

All of these repetitive activities are made not only bearable, but in fact breathtaking, by just how great it feels to be Spider-Man in Spider-Man.

Most of the problems plaguing New York when the game begins originate from a turf war between construction mogul Wilson Fisk The Kingpin and philanthropist turned supervillain Martin Li Mister Negative.

From there the game retreads existing Spider-Man lore in a slightly new permutation. Protagonist Peter Parker is a scientist who spends days in a makeshift lab working on a new project.

His Aunt May works in a homeless shelter called F. Mary Jane Watson is an investigative reporter at the Daily Bugle, where she routinely breaks into dangerous places to land Pulitzer-worthy scoops.

When the game starts, Parker is struggling to work on his research while making time to volunteer with May. By the end his world is turned upside down.

Throughout my playthrough I stopped to complete short Black Cat related collectibles only to learn at the end it was nothing but table setting for a future Felicia Hardy storyline coming in the first DLC.

The main story is sequestered from the rest of the game. These side tasks range from the predictable beating-up-all-the-bad-dudes-in-a-place to chasing drones along particular paths using precision web slinging.

Completing them earns tokens that can be spent on new suits, powers and upgrades. Web slinging is simple.

Press one button to hook to the nearest perch and another to fire webs laterally and propel yourself forward and maintain altitude.

It is incredibly easy and straightforward, while also having small nuances that give it a learning curve, like being a child on a swing for the first time.

Eventually I learned the simple but unique rhythms of each web movement, stringing them together at their natural end points together like a free-jumping trapeze artist.
